    What To Expect

    How it works

Fractional laser resurfacing utilizes a high energy laser beam to soften fine lines, wrinkles, scars, and remove brown spots and other skin irregularities. Additionally, fractional resurfacing stimulates the formation of underlying collagen, meaning many patients see continued improvement for years to come. The name ‘fractional’ refers to the fact that only a fractional level of the skin is treated during each session. This means faster healing and speedier collagen production, all with less downtime than many other traditional resurfacing methods.

    How we do it

Dr. Day’s Thulium and Erbium Laser Treatments are considered a ‘fractional treatment’, meaning it creates hundreds of deep columns through the skin called microscopic treatment zones. This means only a percentage of the skin is affected during each laser pass, reducing healing time, promoting natural regeneration of collagen, and rejuvenating skin cells.

The treatment itself lasts approximately 20 minutes, however you should plan for a 60-minute visit as Dr. Day and her team usually apply a topical anesthetic cream prior to treatment to minimize discomfort.

    Side effects

Patients can expect 4-7 days of downtime due to redness, mild swelling, dryness, and flaking. Dr. Day recommends using her soothing post-procedure skin care, which consists of clinically proven restorative nectars, creams, and serums for optimal healing. Makeup can often be worn starting the day after treatment.

    Questions? We’ve Got Answers.

Is laser peel right for me?

Fractional laser treatments offer patients solutions to a multitude of skin imperfections that were previously only treatable through invasive procedures associated with significant downtime and discomfort. If you are looking for outstanding skin resurfacing results with relatively little downtime, the only FDA approved Fraxel Thulium laser may be your perfect match. Fraxel Thulium works on any patient, any skin type, and can treat a wide variety of imperfections all over the body.

What causes the pigmentation that a laser peel helps erase?

After years of sun exposure, the skin responds through an overproduction of a pigment called melanin to protect your skin from harmful ultraviolet rays. This pigmentation, combined with a natural reduction in the skin’s production of collagen, can leave many patients longing for a more youthful appearance.
