[The Guide] How Can We All Make A Difference on Giving Tuesday

[The Guide] How Can We All Make A Difference on Giving Tuesday

I spend my days helping patients achieve healthy and radiant skin. But today, I want to talk about something that goes beyond skincare – something that touches the heart of humanity. Giving Tuesday is the perfect time for us to come together and make a positive impact on the world. This Giving Tuesday, November 28, I’ll be donating 10% of proceeds from online purchases of my Doris Day M.D. branded product to Melanoma Research Alliance (MRA), the largest non-profit funder of melanoma research.

Here’s my guide with suggestions on how we can all contribute to the greater good this Giving Tuesday.

  1. Support Dermatology Outreach Programs:

At the heart of my profession is a commitment to helping others feel comfortable and confident in their skin. Unfortunately, not everyone has access to the dermatological care they need. Consider supporting organizations that provide dermatology services to underserved communities. Your contribution could help someone regain their confidence and improve their overall well-being.

  1. Donate to Skin Cancer Research:

Skin cancer is a serious and prevalent issue, and research is crucial for developing effective treatments and prevention strategies. Look for reputable organizations dedicated to skin cancer research and consider making a donation. Your support could contribute to groundbreaking discoveries that save lives.

  1. Spread Awareness:

Education is a powerful tool in promoting skin health. Use your social media platforms to share valuable information about skincare, sun protection, and the importance of regular dermatological check-ups. By raising awareness, you empower others to take control of their skin health and prevent potential issues.

  1. Volunteer at Local Shelters:

Winter is upon us, and for many, it's a harsh and challenging season. Take some time on Giving Tuesday to volunteer at local shelters. Harsh weather can exacerbate skin conditions for those without proper shelter. Your time and care can make a significant difference in someone's life.

  1. Donate to Charities Addressing Skin Conditions:

There are numerous charities that focus on supporting individuals with skin conditions. Conditions like psoriasis, eczema, and vitiligo can have a profound impact on one's life. Research and find reputable charities dedicated to helping those affected and consider making a donation to support their efforts.

  1. Organize a Skincare Drive:

Gather your friends, family, or community to organize a skincare drive. Collect items like sunscreen, moisturizers, and other skincare essentials to donate to local shelters or organizations assisting those in need. Your efforts can provide a simple yet impactful way to care for others' well-being.

  1. Create a Fundraiser:

If you have a large network, consider starting a fundraiser for a cause close to your heart. Whether it's for a dermatological outreach program, skin cancer research, or supporting individuals with skin conditions, every dollar raised brings us one step closer to making a difference.

I am passionate about not only enhancing the beauty of skin but also promoting the well-being of individuals and communities. Giving Tuesday is a fantastic opportunity for us all to contribute to causes that matter. Whether it's through financial donations, volunteer work, or spreading awareness, each action, no matter how small, has the potential to make a significant impact. Let's come together as a community and create positive change for a healthier, happier world. Happy Giving Tuesday!
