The study

• 12 weeks, randomized, double-blind and vehicle-controlled, published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology
• 45 women ages 35 to 65 with moderate-to-severe facial photoaging, across Fitzpatrick skin types I to VI
• Participants applied either the RLX-201 formula found in Re-Q or a matching vehicle, twice daily

What the investigators measured

• Firmness: significantly better than vehicle as early as week 2, with continued improvement through week 12
• At week 12, from baseline: firmness and cheek wrinkles improved by 21%, and sagging, orbital elasticity and skin tone by 14%
• Skin quality at week 12: texture improved by 40%, radiance by 39% and luminosity by 38%
• Measured elasticity: elastometry showed significant improvement in the skin's viscoelastic properties, peaking at week 8 and sustained through week 12

What participants said

• 86% reported visibly hydrated skin, enhanced radiance and improved texture
• 86% said they would recommend the product

Tolerability: both formulas were well tolerated, with no adverse events reported.

In the lab: in full-thickness human skin models from three donors, RLX-201 reduced a marker of TORC1 activity (pRPS6) by an average of 91.7%.
